The Hambye canvases, a local production of the 19th century saved from oblivion. In 1820, local craftsmen began to make painted linen cloths which quickly became popular in the area. These canvases, designed to dress alcove beds, also brightened up the interiors by their very colorful aspect. The production lasted about 50 years and was almost forgotten thanks to a few enthusiasts. Today, a remarkable collection of twelve canvases is on display in the porter's room of the abbey. Exposition permanente "Histoires de l'abbaye" - Abbaye de Hambye

From its construction to the present day, this exhibition traces the history of the abbey. Founded in the 12th century by Guillaume de Paisnel, Hambye Abbey experienced a phase of prosperity until the 15th century, when the monastic community began to decline. After the French Revolution, the building was sold and partly dismantled. It was not until 1956 that the monument was saved thanks to its acquisition by the Beck family, then a few years later by the Département de la Manche, who shared the ownership of the site. Since the 1960s, the two owners have worked together to allow the public to visit the abbey. Models, maps, videos? illustrate the nine centuries of history of this monument. For the general public
