From its construction to the present day, this exhibition traces the history of the abbey.
Founded in the 12th century by Guillaume de Paisnel, Hambye Abbey experienced a phase of prosperity until the 15th century, when the monastic community began to decline. After the French Revolution, the building was sold and partly dismantled. It was not until 1956 that the monument was saved thanks to its acquisition by the Beck family, then a few years later by the Département de la Manche, who shared the ownership of the site. Since the 1960s, the two owners have worked together to allow the public to visit the abbey.
Models, maps, videos? illustrate the nine centuries of history of this monument.
